A lovely and rare mid C.19th Scottish mauchlineware spice box, complete with all the original internal spice containers.
Made of turned sycamore, the outer box has a decorative scalloped rim, with the lettering on all containers applied on by transfer.
The scalloped rim shows a couple of minor chips, there has been a repair on the handle and one small portion of the side of the outer box. Otherwise wear as would be expected for a kitchen item, with a beautiful mellow colour and patina.
